Lead

The purpose of this program is to identify and manage the remediation of lead-based paint hazards, ensuring the prevention of elevated blood lead levels in vulnerable populations. By addressing these hazards, the program aims to protect public health, particularly in at-risk communities, while improving overall safety standards in homes and buildings. In addition to safeguarding health, the program enhances property values by facilitating safe renovations and rehabilitations, contributing to neighborhood revitalization. Through its comprehensive approach, the program promotes community health, environmental protection, and a sustainable living environment for future generations.

Weatherization

Our Weatherization and Heating Improvement Programs are designed to help low-income households in Monmouth County reduce energy costs and improve home comfort. Through weatherization, we enhance energy efficiency by sealing drafts, insulating crawl spaces and attics, and upgrading critical home systems. Our heating improvements focus on repairing or replacing inefficient heating systems to ensure warmth and safety. These initiatives aim to create healthier, more sustainable living environments while lowering utility bills.

Energy Assistance

The Energy Assistance Department at CARC helps clients access a variety of federally and state-funded energy assistance programs. By working closely with utility companies and government agencies across New Jersey, we strive to ensure that all residents have access to essential energy services, supporting their basic needs and improving their quality of life. Our commitment is to provide guidance and resources that promote energy security and stability for individuals and families throughout the state.

Homelessness Prevention

The Homelessness Prevention Programs encompass distinct initiatives designed to support individuals and families facing housing instability. These programs provide critical assistance with relocation, eviction defense, and other measures to help people remain securely housed. By addressing immediate needs and promoting long-term stability, the programs aim to reduce homelessness and foster stronger, more resilient communities.

Employment

The Work Readiness Skills Training program equips participants with a comprehensive range of employment-focused activities designed to prepare them for the workforce. Through targeted training, participants develop valuable skills that enhance their employability. The program focuses on building confidence, fostering a strong work ethic, and teaching practical competencies such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. By addressing individual strengths, the program significantly increases participants' chances of securing meaningful employment.

Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault

The Family Violence Prevention Program focused on assisting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault by providing comprehensive support, crisis intervention, advocacy and counseling. The program ensures a safe, trustworthy and confidential environment where services are holistic, accessible and client centered. It also focuses on educating communities about prevention and fostering resilience through education and support groups. The program helps survivors regain independence and build self sufficiency while healing in their unique journey.

    “I called CARC this year for help with my utilities since I am on a fixed budget and only receive Social Security. Kayla called me and set up a home visit to apply for USF/LIHEAP. She came to my house, scanned the documents needed for the application and applied to the program.  I explained to her that I could barely afford food and she referred me to a caseworker Lizzette who filled out the application for SNAP. I couldn't say enough about how much CARC has helped and gone above and beyond for me to receive the assistance I need."
